Update for April 2nd, 2013
Well, in my VA Audition post I mentioned the auditions would be closed April 2nd. I had been intending to have it be lax, but at this time I’m going to officially close them for reason I’m about to explain:
For those who follow my main blog or my DA, this won’t be news, but for those who don’t know already, my friend who was helping my animate had to peace out, and like my first animator, due to reasons of school/real life putting too much on their plate. I could wait a few months for their schedule to open up, but I’m iffy on that, especially since it’s so vague and uncertain, so they suggested I go ahead and try looking elsewhere.
So, for this reason I’ve decided to spend the next week or so reworking the entire pilot script/layout and basically start from scratch ((mostly the same but with all necessary materials to make it made and in more thorough detail)) and send it to an animation studio that is currently accepting pitches for animations, pilots, etc.
My intention had been to make it mostly solo with my friend’s help and then hope it garnered interest so that pros could help make the continuing series, so I guess I’ll just have to make a leap of faith and skip the first step, and hope it piques their interest.
If they accept it, that’d be better than I could ever hope to do on my own, but since I want to make a good impression on them I’ll have to make all the stuff I’d been using before a bit more in-depth and such before pitching it to them.
If they decline, I’ll still figure something out… I just am kinda bummed there’s been delays for this long. But hey, we’ll see.
Open Auditions: VAs Needed for Cartoon Pilot!
Greetings! I am Mog, an aspiring artist, animator, and writer, and I am currently putting together a full length animated pilot episode of one of my original creations, currently under the working title of Timothy Gorefester. There’s a need for quite a variety of voices in this first-shot episode alone, so click the read more for the list of characters and sample lines! It’s the perfect opportunity if you’ve ever wanted to voice a sentient question mark who shouts a lot or a ten foot cyclopean alien made of electrons.

Update for January 29th, 2013
We’ll be recording voices soon ((meaning I’ll be opening auditions before too long!)), and once we have the voices we can get to the actual animation part. Are you excited? I’m excited. And nervous.
Also we may or may not have a little flash minigame to go along with the pilot, if time permits.
Oh, and I have gotten with someone to get the theme song made, or at least a theme tune. The good news from the delays it’s that it’s permitted me to make certain aspects a bit more refined, although as I mentioned not too long ago I’ll be redrawing a lot of the cameo and BG characters to match the progression. Most of the old stuff was done via curve tool and looks pretty dated compared to what I can make now.
Hope you’re all doing well, and thanks for reading!
Update for December 4th, 2012
Animator hasn’t been able to keep in touch on a weekly basis like we were aiming for, so I’m really sorry for the lack of activity.
It’ll probably be months before it’s done, or even the first half done; I guesstimated it’d run about 10-15 minutes, but it actually is going to run closer to 20… and that’s WITH cutting out the prologue! So we’re going to break it in half, at around the mark a ‘commercial break’ would be, and work on finishing the opening half first. School is eating up more of the animator’s time than we thought it would, another reason for the delays.
I myself am taking a shot at an animation class in the spring semester, so if worst comes to worst I can try and make the cartoon myself after the pilot. Anyway, thanks for reading, have a great day!
My first crack at designing one of the key buildings in the first half of the pilot I’ve whipped up this morning! I’m so glad I am not confined to the restrictions of reality when it comes to this stuff because designing buildings and interior decorating have NEVER been a strong point of mine.
If you have name suggestions, please feel free to let em at me!
Update for October 1st, 2012
Haha! Finally got some more storyboards, and as always they’re looking great. My animator moved recently, hence the delay. There are also some other time constraints coming up that might cause a delay issue, unless we split the pilot in half, which might be for the best because it’s turned out that it’s going to be much longer than I’d guesstimated!
I’d thought it’d turn out around 11 minutes, but it’s actually likely to be closer to 20! So we might split it in half, and basically have the cut off point be an appropriate place a commercial break would be were it on TV, i.o.w., 11 minute mark.
Thanks for stopping by!
